This is an original antique copper engraved map with original hand coloring, published in 1823 as plate X of James Wyld's Geographia Sacra, or Scripture Atlas. The title, engraved in a panel at the upper right, reads "TRIBE of NAPHTALI".

Naphtali is drawn north from the Sea of Galilee, Tiberias, Gennesaret or Cinneroth, which is shaded at the foot of the sheet, up the Jordan through the Waters of Merom to the Valley of Lebanon and Anti Lebanon at the top left. Kedesh Naphtali, Madon and Hammath are among the towns, and a Part of Dan, with Dan, Laish, Leshem or Cesarea Philippi, is outlined in blue at the upper right, with Mount Hermon lettered along its northeast side. The territory is laid in a pale wash and edged in pink, with Zebulun washed in blue green to the southwest and Manasseh lettered east of the river. A scale of British Statute Miles sits below the title, and an explanation at the lower left keys royal cities, cities of refuge and Levitical cities.

Under the lower left corner of the border is the credit "J. Wyld del.", under the lower right corner "G. Neele Sculp.", and centered between them the imprint "Published by G. & W. B. Whittaker, 13 Ave Maria Lane, April 1823." The plate number "X." is engraved above the upper right corner of the border.

The sheet belongs to Geographia Sacra, or Scripture Atlas, issued in London in 1823 by G. and W. B. Whittaker. On the engraved title page of the atlas Wyld is described as "of the Quarter Master General's Office, Horse Guards". James Wyld the elder (1790 to 1836) was a London geographer and map publisher.

Even age toning. Marked handling soiling along the bottom, right and top edges. A few small foxing spots in the margin. All four corners are present.
