St. Paul's Chapel on Broadway in New York, an original steel engraving of about 1850, lettered "St. Paul's, Broadway, (New York)". The lower margin carries the credit "Aus d. Kunstanst. d. Bibliogr. Inst. in Hildb." and "Eigenthum d. Verlegers", showing that it was issued by Herrmann J. Meyer's Bibliographisches Institut in Hildburghausen.

The church is seen from the corner, in full elevation, with a pedimented Corinthian portico and a tall tiered spire at the right. Iron railings and a stone gatepost enclose the churchyard, and a few passers-by walk the pavement, among them a woman with a basket at the left. Trees stand at both sides, and a stormy sky with trailing clouds fills the upper half of the sheet.

St. Paul's Chapel was completed in 1766 and is the oldest surviving church building in Manhattan. George Washington worshipped there after his inauguration in 1789.
