Description: Antique print titled 'S. Bartholomaeus Ecclesiam B.M.V. edificari jubet, et columna decidens Monachiejus Dicipli jussu sistitur.'
Scarce plate showing Bartholomew the Apostle building a temple. This print originates from 'Picturae Dominici Zampierii, vulgo Domenichino, quae extant in sacello sacrae aedi Cryptoferratensi adjuncto tabulis aeneis incisae' published 1762.
Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Petrus Antonius Pazzi' after 'Domenico Zampieri'. Pietro Antonio Pazzi (1706, 1766), Engraver. Domenico Zampieri, known as Domenichino for his shortness (October 21, 1581, April 6, 1641), was an Italian Baroque painter of the Bolognese or Carracci School of painters.
Condition: Good, given age. Some staining top and bottom edge, slightly affecting image. Tiny tear bottom edge right fold, outside image. A few tiny spots. Original folds as issued. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study image carefully.
