Title: Original 1924 Ottoman Mosque Facades Print, Yeşil Djami Iznik & Muradiye Mosque Bursa

Description:

An original architectural plate from Alexandre M. Raymond's monumental publication L'Art Islamique en Orient, IIe Partie, illustrating two of the most celebrated monuments of early Ottoman architecture in northwestern Anatolia.

This finely executed composition presents:

• Façade de Yéchil Djami à Isnik (1374 to 1378), the Green Mosque of İznik (Nicaea)

• Façade de la Mosquée Mouradié à Brousse (1447), the Muradiye Mosque in Bursa

Rendered in delicate blue-grey and muted terracotta tones, the plate combines archaeological precision with the elegance of early twentieth-century architectural illustration. The domed silhouettes, striped masonry, pointed arches, and refined ornamental details capture the formative language of Ottoman religious architecture during the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries.

Alexandre Marcel Raymond devoted decades to documenting the artistic and architectural heritage of Anatolia and the former Ottoman Empire. His work remains among the most important visual surveys of Islamic decorative arts produced during the modern era and continues to be valued by scholars, architects, collectors, and designers alike.

The restrained palette and balanced composition make this sheet particularly attractive as wall art, complementing both traditional interiors and contemporary spaces inspired by Mediterranean and Middle Eastern design.

The framed photographs shown in our presentations are for visual inspiration only. The print is offered and sold unframed.

Condition Report:

Good antique condition with age-appropriate toning, scattered foxing, light surface wear, and minor edge imperfections consistent with an original folio plate from the early twentieth century. The printed image remains strong and highly decorative.

Framing Recommendations:

This work is especially effective in a dark walnut, ebonized, or Ottoman-inspired frame with a wide ivory museum mat. The cool blue-grey palette pairs beautifully with traditional Turkish, Mediterranean, and contemporary interiors.

The print is sold unframed; any framed images are shown for inspiration only.
