Two engraved views of the Cathedral of Montreal, original steel engravings by Lemaitre, each headed "Canada" and captioned "Cathédrale de Montréal," printed in France around 1850. The sheet shows the exterior at the left and the interior at the right, with the engraver's credit printed below each plate.

The exterior view looks at the Gothic Revival front of the church from an open square, with three tall pointed arches at the entrance, rows of lancet windows above, a crenellated top and a cross on the gable. A square bell tower with a slender spire stands beside it, and a flight of steps and some timber work at the left suggest building work in progress. A few small figures stand in the unpaved foreground, and low houses can be seen beyond.

The interior view looks down the nave toward a richly worked altar, with ribbed vaults, clustered columns and galleries running along the walls. A crowded congregation sits and stands in the nave and aisles. A hanging pulpit with a preacher is set against a column at the left, and a crucifix and statues stand in the right aisle.

The building shown is the parish church of Notre-Dame in Montreal, and the views are two of a set of small Canadian plates made for a European audience.
