Antique print, titled: 'De tempel der goude Amida.',

Interior view of the Temple of Amida (also Amitabha) in Edo (also Yedo/Jeddo, now Tokyo). The statue shows the God seated on a seven-headed horse. The God himself has a dog's head. Arnoldus Montanus' "Gedenkwaerdige Gesantschappen der Oost-Indische Maatschappy in 't Vereenigde Nederland aan de Kaisaren van Japan […]. Amsterdam: Jacob Meurs, 1669.

Artists and Engravers: Made by an anonymous engraver after 'Arnoldus Montanus'.

Condition: Very good, given age. Right margin uneven, from binding. Top margin faintly browned. A crease in the right edge of the sheet, below the image. As this is a page from a book, there is text beneath the image and on the rear of the sheet. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
